High potential and gifted education
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.
At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.
Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?
Recognising potential and developing talent
Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.
Tailored lessons
Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.
Rich opportunities and activities
Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.
Opening doors to wider experiences
Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.
What is high potential and gifted education?
High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.
Our high potential and gifted education opportunities
Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.
At Denham Court Public School, we are committed to nurturing the potential of every child through a broad and dynamic range of High potential and gifted education (HPGE) programs. From Kindergarten to Year 6, our classrooms provide rich, engaging and challenging learning experiences that build capacity, spark creativity, and foster a lifelong love of learning.
Students in Years K–6 have access to a specialised differentiated curriculum, while all students K–6 benefit from differentiated support tailored to their individual strengths and needs. Our teachers explicitly embed critical and creative thinking strategies across all key learning areas, ensuring that every child is encouraged to think deeply, solve problems and innovate.
With a robust curriculum and thoughtfully selected resources, our HPGE students are continually challenged to achieve at the highest levels, while still meeting curriculum outcomes. At Denham Court, we create opportunities for all learners to thrive, excel and shine.
Denham Court Public School is proud to offer a wide range of High potential and gifted education (HPGE) programs that nurture the talents of our students across all domains from Kindergarten to Year 6.
In the intellectual domain, our students extend their thinking through weekly Mathematics Enrichment lessons, Enrichment Writing Club, Public Speaking Club, Book Club, and Technology Clubs, which include 3D Printing, Game Design, STEM, and Lego Robotics and Technics.
In the creative domain, students explore and develop their artistic abilities through explicit, specialist-taught Visual Arts lessons in drawing and painting, fostering imagination and creative expression. We also provide performance opportunities in dance and choir at a school and state level.
Our physical domain is supported through competition sporting clubs, where students build skills and teamwork in touch football, soccer, cricket, athletics, and swimming.
In the social-emotional domain, we provide students with a range of opportunities to grow as confident leaders and valued members of our school community through school-wide public speaking, student leadership programs, and strong wellbeing initiatives.
At Denham Court Public School, we are committed to recognising and extending the gifts and talents of all students, ensuring they are challenged, inspired, and supported to achieve their personal best.
